F&AM Valley Lodge 797 will bring a unique opportunity to local music fans when The Bretts, direct from Branson, Mo., take to the stage in Schuylkill County.
Two shows will be held at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday at Tri-Valley High School, Route 25, Hegins.
The Bretts are in their 13th season at Dick Clark's American Bandstand Theater in Branson and feature five talented family members.
According to the Bretts' website, the family has appeared on worldwide television and in more than 3,000 live performances around the globe and conducts about 140 shows annually at the theater.
The husband and wife team of Tom and Andrea Brett, and their three children, Brydon and Garon Brett and Briahna Brett Perkins, make up the group.
Tom was nominated for Branson's Male Vocalist of the Year award in 2010, and has been described as blending the power of Larry Gatlin with the finesse of Vince Gill.
Andrea has been compared to Karen Carpenter and Anne Murray. A singer, songwriter, arranger and poet, she produced a patriotic tribute to veterans, considered one of the most powerful in Branson.
It was Andrea's poem, titled "I Am A Veteran," that captured the attention of several local veterans, including one of the Hegins event organizers, Leon Maurer.
Maurer asked Andrea if her poem could be included in the Tri-Valley Area Veterans book, "Defending Our Freedom, Past, Present, and Future, Book 1," published in March 2010, and she agreed. A patriotic tribute, including the poem, is scheduled to be part of the Hegins shows, according to event planners.
Tickets are $25 and are available from any lodge member, or by calling Leon Maurer Jr. at 570-682-9266, Don E. Bixler at 570-682-8567, Robert M. Machamer Sr. at 570-682-9364 or Thomas B. Myers at 717-365-3067. For more information about the professional performers, visit the website www.brettfamily.com.
Area charities will receive a portion of the proceeds from the shows.
