Family and friends of a Cumbola man not seen for three weeks gathered at Dunkin' Donuts in Pottsville on Thursday morning to organize and conduct an informal search for him.

James Harig, who turned 26 years old on Feb. 19, was reported missing Wednesday night by his sister, Jessica Reinhard.

Harig lives in Cumbola, so the missing persons report was filed with Blythe Township police. Officer in Charge Joseph Leskin said Reinhard contacted police about 7 p.m. and said her brother was last seen about three weeks ago.

Leskin said he took information about Harig and entered the man as a missing person in the National Crime Information Center system. He said that according to Harig's sister, he was last seen on Sharp Mountain near the Hillside SPCA, when his friends dropped him off.

Beside the man's description, Leskin said police have little information and do not suspect foul play.

"At this point we don't know if he's even missing," he said. "We do have an obligation and duty to enter him into the system and that is what we did."

Harig's first cousin, Scott Horning, said Harig was last seen Feb. 11 or 12 and that his family and friends are concerned for his well-being.

He said that although in the past Harig did go away for a week or two, the current three-week time frame seems too long for him to be gone voluntarily.

"You would think we would have heard from him, especially for his son," Horning said, referring to Harig's 8-year-old son, Dylan.

Harig is described as being about 6 feet tall and 230 pounds, has dark hair and is usually clean shaven.

Knowing the man likes to hunt and is an outdoors person, there is a possibility something could have happened to him if he chose to walk on Sharp Mountain, Horning said.

Leskin said that anyone with information on Harig's whereabouts can contact Blythe Township police at 570-277-6391 or through the Schuylkill County Communications Center at 570-628-3792.
