TAMAQUA - A 31-year-old Tamaqua woman charged with failing to return money and the title of a vehicle given to her to hold by her mother in 2010 had charges against her held for court during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer.

Tiffanie Wirth, 5 Oak Lane, was arrested by Tamaqua police Patrolman Karl Harig and charged with one count each of theft and receiving stolen property.

Bayer determined the Commonwealth proved a prima facie case and ordered both charges against Wirth held for Schuylkill County Court.

Harig said in 2010, Cindy Delp, Wirth's mother, gave her $1,310 from income tax to hold for "safe keeping" and then the title for a 1993 Plymouth Sundance to hold for the same reason.

In January, Harig said the two had an argument, after which Delp asked for the return of the money and title but was given excuses by Wirth, including saying that she lost the money envelope and title.

Delp said she reported the incident to authorities after numerous attempts to get the money and title from her daughter were ignored.
