SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Schuylkill Haven police said they charged six people - all Penn State Schuylkill students or their family or friends - after raiding a party early Thursday morning.
Police said about 2:10 a.m. officers along with Penn State University police were called to a complaint of a loud party at 209 E. Main St. and upon arriving, detained one person outside of the home.
While speaking with that person, police said other people came out of the back door but fled back inside after seeing the officers.
The officers pursued the individuals back into the home where 12 individuals were detained, police said.
Also inside the home, police said drug paraphernalia, namely scales and small plastic baggies, along with suspected marijuana that was packaged for resale was seen in plain sight.
While interviewing those detained, police said it was determined that four people inside the home were under the legal age for consuming alcohol and had done so earlier.
Several of those inside had also smoked marijuana and police said officers detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana, both on the individuals and in the air.
The two renters of the home were identified as Hasan Adams, 21, of Philadelphia, and Justin Dolcy, 20, of Brooklyn, N.Y., who cooperated with officers and allowed the home to be searched.
Adams was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, while Dolcy was also placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Those charged with underage drinking were Ashton Williams, 19, and Michael Bajor, 19, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Brittany Barnes, 19, of New York, NY; and Randolph Moses Jr., 19, of Bronx, N.Y.
Police said it was determined that those at the party were Penn State Schuylkill students and/or friends and guests of some of the students visiting from their respective hometown areas.
The home where the party was occurring is owned by the Covenant United Methodist Church, which is located next door.
Police said that over the past several years, the home has been rented primarily to Penn State Schuylkill students and has been a source of nuisance complaints, including underage parties.
Police said they have been working closely with designated church leaders to resolve the complaints.
All of those charged will now have to appear before Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg.
