SHENANDOAH HEIGHTS - The West Mahanoy Township supervisors accepted a quote to make improvements on heating and air conditioning in the municipal building.
During Tuesday's meeting, the supervisors accepted the proposal from G.M. Sadusky and Co., Shenandoah, one of two companies to offer quotes for the project.
"The quote is for $5,420 to add Fujitsu heating/cooling systems in three of the small rooms in the back of the building," said Supervisor Chairman Chris Malocu. "We need to have something done in the police room for heating and cooling, and decided to add the other two small rooms."
In the activity reports of fire companies, Supervisor Maryann Wishnefsky said members of the three township fire companies - William Penn, Altamont and Heights - met at the Heights Fire Company on April 1 to display and inventory fire equipment and swap ideas.
"It was a good session, according to (William Penn Fire Chief) Al Miscannon," said Wishnefsky.
With the warmer weather, Malocu asked residents to keep their properties cleared of weeds and keep grass cut.
Malocu said the supervisors have begun discussing the upcoming road program. The supervisors will attend a workshop on blight in the near future sponsored by state Rep. Neal P. Goodman, D-123. In a related matter, the supervisors approved a list of dilapidated houses in the Lost Creek and William Penn areas.
Malocu reported that there has been illegal dumping in the Brownsville section of the township. He warned that the illegal dumper, when identified, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
