HEGINS - EI Associations will be the architectural firm to conduct a feasibility study for the Tri-Valley School District.

The board voted Dec. 14, to hire the firm, which it used for its last study conducted in 1995, just before the district began a massive remodeling at the junior-senior high school. Director Mary Lou Kline made the motion and it was seconded by Mike Wasilus. Board President Daniel Wagner abstained and Director Donald Buffington cast the lone no vote. Director Ken Smeltz was absent.

Buffington said at the Nov. 21 meeting that the district had its ups and downs with the firm in the past and that there were a lot of construction issues. He said he thought it wasn't a good experience.

Since the company has been hired, it will now come in and not only look at the elementary schools, but will study all the buildings, including the district office to determine what needs to be done.

When the study is complete, the board will have the final say on what project or projects, if any, it wants to undertake.

In other business, due to the closing of school Sept. 8 and 9, the district will be using the weather emergency make-up days scheduled April 11 and 12. School will be in session on these days.

In the event of additional closures, remaining make-up days will be used, and if needed, the school year will be extended for the required number of days in June.
