n Auburn: A free spaghetti dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Auburn Church of God, 230 Market St. The meal will include salad, bread, beverage and dessert. For more information, call 570-754-7736.

n Frackville: St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Church will hold a Chinese auction at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church hall, 414 W. Oak St. Doors will open at noon.

n Friedensburg: The Pottsville Kiwanis Club will hold its annual golf tournament on May 4 at Hidden Valley Golf Course, 1753 Panther Valley Road. The event, which will start at 1 p.m., will be a four-person scramble with two flights. The cost is $70 per person and includes lunch, dinner, door prizes and hole prizes.

n Friedensburg: The Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet Charity Golf Outing will be held May 11 at Hidden Valley Golf Course. The format will be a four-person scramble and a shotgun start at either 7:30 a.m. or 12:45 p.m. and limited to the first 144 golfers. Prizes will include closest to the pin on all par threes, pot of gold on No. 17 and the hole-in-one prizes include a new car, a Rolex watch and other items. The fee for hole sponsors and four golfers is $400. For just golf, lunch, dinner and refreshments the cost is $70. For more information or to sign up, call Hidden Valley at 800-428-4631. n Palo Alto: The Palo Alto Enhancement Committee will hold a chicken dinner by Hess Catering on May 5. The meal includes a half chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, roll and butter. Advance tickets are required. Pick up will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Palo Alto Borough Hall. For tickets, call Sharon at 570-572-3367 or Ann at 570-622-9763. There will also be a bake sale.

n Pottsville: The Senior Citizens Organization of Pottsville will sponsor a bus trip to Mount Airy Casino, Wilkes-Barre, on May 8. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from the Market Square Apartments and at 9:15 a.m. from the Giant parking lot in Cressona. For more information, call Betty Gerenda at 570-628-0454.

n Pottsville: American Hose Company No. 2, 323 W. Norwegian St., will sponsor a comedy show by Comedy Blast, Whitehall, on Saturday in the firehouse. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. with host Jared Bilski, according to a fire company release. The cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door and includes food, pretzels, chips and refreshments. After the show, disc jockey Kevin Sibbett will provide music for dancing. n Summit Station: The Summit Station Fire Company will sponsor a comedy night at 8 p.m. Saturday in the company banquet hall, 1138 South Route 183. The cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Rotary Club will sponsor a pet inoculation against rabies from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Rescue Hook & Ladder Company, 201 N. Main St. Dr. Michele Mattera, veterinarian, will administer the shots for $10 each. Other inoculations will be available for additional fees. Rotarian Mark Bernardyn, chairman of the event, said all pets must be leashed and kept under control by owners.

n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Valley High School Student Council and youth conference team will sponsor a "Peace Pole" dedication at 1 p.m. Friday (rain date Monday). The pole will be erected outside the high school gymnasium and a flag ceremony will be conducted to "recognize all countries that share the dream of having a world free of war and where peace abounds," according to a bulletin announcement. The public is invited to participate.

n Shenandoah: The Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society will sponsor a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 5 at its 201 S. Main St. history center. Donations for the sale will be accepted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 3 at the center. Computers will not be accepted.
