assault charges
MAR LIN - A 15-year-old boy was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple assault following an incident at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29, Mar Lin.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said the 15-year-old tried to stab a behavioral interventionist, Sean R. Lyons, 41, of Pine Grove, with a mechanical pencil.
Police said Lyons was scraped/gouged in the right rib cage area.
The student said that he was going to "shank" someone while holding the pencil in a stabbing position, police said. Staff members got the pencil away from the boy and notified police.

Pine Grove crash
PINE GROVE - Two people suffered minor injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Sweet Arrow Lake Road, just west of Mountain Road in Washington Township, at 6:07 p.m. Saturday, police said.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jeremy Gorey, 19, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 1994 Nissan west when he failed to follow a left curve, overcompensated and lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its passenger side. The vehicle slid a short distance and struck a utility pole before coming to a stop, police said.
Gorey and his passenger, Kimberly J. Scanlan, 17, of Saint Clair, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene by Pine Grove EMS, police said, noting that Gorey will be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
Medication stolen
from food market
PINE GROVE - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of over-the-counter medication from BG's Value Market, 24 Pleasant Valley Road.
Police said the theft occurred at 3:20 p.m. April 20.
