charges filed
SHENANDOAH - A 33-year-old borough man is facing charges by Shenandoah police after the vehicle he was driving was stopped at 8:40 p.m. Saturday.
Police said they stopped the vehicle driven by Eddie Adams, Bower Street, knowing he was not properly licensed and found him to be in possession of marijuana.
Police said the vehicle was towed and that charges against Adams will be filed with Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.

resists arrest
SHENANDOAH - A 37-year-old man was taken into custody by Shenandoah police and charged with resisting arrest after an incident at 9:33 p.m. Saturday.
Police said officers were previously made aware of possible drug activity in the unit block of South Gilbert Street and saw Albin Kaminsky, whose address was not listed, in the area acting suspicious.
Police said the man was found to be in possession of suspected prescription medication and is facing additional charges as the investigation continues.

The North Central Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce announced that Sobriety Checkpoints and Roving DUI Patrols will be conducted today through Monday along routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.
Travelers are reminded to call 911 if they suspect a drunk driver or to call, toll-free, 1-888-UNDER21 to report underage drinking.

in scrap theft
DARKWATER - Two people were arrested by state police at Frackville and charged with theft and criminal trespass after an incident on Reading Anthracite Co. property, north of Darkwater Road in New Castle Township, between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said Joshua A. Mullins, 20, and Shawn E. Peck, 20, both of Pottsville, will have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.
Police said both men were seen by Reading Anthracite personnel stealing scrap metal and were detained until troopers arrived.

ELIZABETHVILLE - State police at Lykens are conducting a free Child Passenger Safety Seat Checkup event between 3 and 6 p.m. May 24 and 25 at Wal-Mart, 200 Kocher Lane, in this Dauphin County community.

Drivers escape
injury in crash
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Two people escaped injury when their vehicles collided at Route 61 and Manheim Road in North Manheim Township at 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jamie L. Minnich, 31, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2008 Jeep Cherokee north on Route 61 when he went through a red light and collided with a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Denise Berger, 45, of Pottsville, who was pulling onto Route 61 from Manheim Road after the light turned green for her direction of travel.
Both drivers escaped injury, and police Minnich will be cited for traffic control signal violations as a result of the crash.

from man's yard
FRIEDENSBURG - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft at 2155 Panther Valley Road in Wayne Township between 4 p.m. April 22 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police said John Curry reported someone stole two black, rusty General Motors radiators from the rear of his yard and fled the area. Police said the radiators are valued at $550 and ask anyone with information contact them at 570-593-2000.

theft of ATV
BETHEL - The theft of an ATV from a driveway at 430 Schubert Road in Bethel Township, Berks County, between 11 p.m. Saturday and 5:30 a.m. Sunday is being investigated by state police at Hamburg.
Police said Michael Livingston reported the theft of a blue and white 1994 Yamaha Banshee that had stickers on the left and right rear seats, a sticker on the front and a sticker on the swing arm. The vehicle also had a large feet guards and a twist throttle, police said.

SHENANDOAH - Borough police are investigating the breaking of a large plate glass store-front window at the former Armondo's Pizza building, 116 W. Coal St. between 2:45 and 3:20 p.m. Monday.
Neighbors reported that an altercation among several people occurred in the area about that time. The window was 73 inches wide and 48 inches high. The estimated damage is $800.

Man arrested
after 2 incidents
TAMAQUA - A 41-year-old borough man was arrested by Tamaqua police after two recent incidents in the borough.
Police said Kerry Fulmer, 402 Pine St., was charged with harassment after an incident on April 25 when he punched Sally Hartung, 44, in the head after a verbal argument at his apartment building. Fulmer then fled the scene, police said.
Then, on Saturday police charged Fulmer with public drunkenness after an incident at Turkey Hill Minit Mart on East Broad Street.
Police said Fulmer called officers to report he was assaulted but the officers found no signs of the man being assaulted but did find him under the influence of alcohol and uncooperative.
Fulmer will have to answer to both charges before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, police said.
Frackville man
injured in crash
McADOO - A 38-year-old Frackville man was flown to a trauma center for treatment of injuries he suffered when his 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier crashed in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 at mile marker 137.1 in Kline Township at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, police said.
State police at Frackville said John Mcannaney was driving north when he lost control due to fatigue, causing his car to go off the road and into the median, where it hit a culvert and dirt embankment. The car overturned and came to a stop partially in the left lane and on the shoulder of the road, police said.
Mcannaney was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley, Wilkes-Barre, for treatment, police said, adding that the man will be cited for both traffic and equipment violations.
McAdoo and Delano firefighters, McAdoo EMS and APTS EMS assisted at the scene, police said.

SHENANDOAH - Ann Futyma, 237 W. Lloyd St., reported to borough police that the passenger side of her 2007 Ford Mustang was scratched by a key while it was parked in front of her home between noon Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
