n Ashland: The Ashland Public Library has acknowledged a gift of $125 from the Ashland Rotary Club Charitable Trust Fund through the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation. According to a library press release, the money will be used for the facility's general fund. The library also received a grant of $350 through SACF's grant committee, which will be used to buy a copier/printer for staff use. In the release, library officials said the staff and board of directors are "very grateful for these funds during these times of funding cuts and extend their gratitude to all concerned at Schuylkill (Area) Community Foundation.

n Ashland: The borough council has reslated its meeting for 7 p.m. Wednesday in borough hall, 401 S. 18th St. It was originally scheduled for July 11.

n Mahanoy City: Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church is looking for photographs from the former parishes - Assumption BVM, Sacred Heart, St. Canicus, St. Casimir, St. Fidelis, St. Joseph and Our Lady of Siluva - that merged to become Blessed Teresa parish. Photos should be submitted by Aug. 5 to Debbie Walker, 570-773-0813. The photos can be from a wedding, first Holy Communion, Confirmation, Christmas, Easter or other events. The Rev. Kevin Gallagher, pastor, will choose from those photographs to enlarge and frame them. They will become part of a special section for each of these historical churches in the parish hall. Place your name and phone number on the back of the photos, which will be returned to the owners.

n McAdoo: The McAdoo and Kline Township Community Yard Sale will begin at 8 a.m. today. Those who paid $5 will be provided with maps, yard signs and balloons. The sale will be held rain or shine.

n Pottsville: Theresa Santai Gaffney, Schuylkill County register of wills and clerk of the orphans' court, released the following report for June: Estates processed, 61; marriage licenses issued, 81; adoptions completed, one; inheritance tax remitted to the commonwealth, $818,945.02; county fees collected, $15,453.25.

n Quakake: Registrations being accepted at the local post office for the Quakake Community Yard Sale, to be held July 21 and 22. Any family interested in participating in this year's yard sale must register, according to a release. For more information, call 570-467-2457.

n Sheppton: The annual Sheppton-Oneida Community yard sale will begin at 8 a.m. today with an optional day on Sunday. All residents of the community are welcome to participate. This year's sale is being sponsored by local businesses, so no fee will be collected to participate. Posters have been set around the communities bearing more information. Any donations received will help defray the cost of a family movie night, held each summer at the Sheppton Playground. All donations are appreciated.

n Tamaqua: An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Tamaqua Salvation Army Center, 105 W. Broad St., sponsored by City Limits Bakery, Tamaqua. Donors will receive a coupon for a free carton of Friendly's ice cream. People 17 and older, weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health are asked to donate blood.

n Tamaqua: The South Ward Playground Association is conducting a free summer lunch program for all local children through age 18. Lunches are served from noon to 1 p.m. weekdays at the South Ward Playground. The program is an offshoot of the free school lunch program, with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The non-discriminatory program is open to all children regardless of race, origin, religion, ethnicity or national origin. In addition to lunch, participants will be offered a variety of summer activities. The playground is located between Penn and Race streets in Tamaqua's South Ward.
