n Ashland: Overeaters Anonymous and the Al-Anon Family Group meet on Mondays at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, rear entrance, 35 N. Ninth St. The former group meets from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. and the latter, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

n Hamburg: The annual Taste of Hamburg-er Festival is set for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 1 in downtown Hamburg. Admission is free and the food fest will honor the hamburger family. There will be entertainment on the streets, crafters/artists, children's activities and contests, including burger eating. Regional restaurants will challenge each other to the People's Choice Award for best burger. For more information, contact the Our Town Foundation at 610-562-3106.

n Maizeville: The annual St. John/St. Michael picnic will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Aug. 18 and noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 19 at the St. John Picnic Grove along Main Street in the village. The Pennsylvania Good Times will provide live music from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and the Pennsylvania Villagers will perform from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday. There will be ethnic food including pyrohy (pierogies), holubtsi (halupkis stuffed cabbage), halushki (cabbage and noodles), bleenies (fried potato pancakes) and kobasa (kielbasa) as well as open fire kettle bean soup. Homemade desserts, beverages, games and novelties will also be available. A theme basket auction, featuring more than 30 baskets, will be conducted over the two-day picnic. n Millersburg: The Susquehanna Rovers Volksmarch Club will sponsor a 10K and a 5K walk her on July 28. The noncompetitive walks will feature the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art. Starting time is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. All walkers must finish by 4 p.m. The walk start and finish at MYO Park, 799 Center St. Parking is free at the park, according to a press release. This walk is sanctioned by the International Federation of Popular Sports and counts toward the acquisition of IVV Achievement Awards. IVV credit is $3. B-award and credit is available for $4. The walk is free for those who wish to participate without IVV credit. The Susquehanna Rovers Volksmarch Club was organized on Jan. 7, 1987, and is celebrating its 25th year. The walk is in conjunction with the Ned Smith Festival. The Ned Smith Center was founded in 1993 to celebrate the life and works of its namesake, the nationally recognized wildlife artist and writer who was a native of Millersburg. n Pottsville: David J. Dutcavich, Schuylkill County prothonotary, released the following report for June: County remittance, $45,670.67; new civil actions, 278; divorces started, 39; divorces granted, 23; passports processed, 90; state remittance, $7,023.43.

n Shenandoah: Expressions is a thrift/gift shop run by Pottsville-based Avenues, formerly United Cerebral Palsy, at 112-114 N. Main St. According to its website - www.avenuesofpa.org/expressions.html - it carries multiple items including clothing, accessories, housewares, furniture, DVDs, CDs, movies, decorations, new gifts and other fare.
