Girl escapes injury

in crash

A 16-year-old Cressona girl escaped injury following a one-vehicle crash at 12:31 p.m. Thursday at 321 E. Second Mountain Road in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred as a 2005 Mazda Tribune, driven by the girl, was traveling east on East Second Mountain Road when she failed to make a right turn.

She lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the south side of the roadway and struck an embankment, police said.

The impact caused the vehicle to rollover back across the roadway before coming to rest in the front yard of 321 E. Second Mountain Road, police said.

The driver was able to get herself out of the vehicle without help, police said.

Police also said that the roadway had recently been tarred and chipped.

The vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.

Due to the condition of the roadway and the driver's inexperience, no citation was issued, police said.
