PRIMROSE - An Auburn man escaped injury when the tractor-trailer he was driving crashed on Route 901, Sunbury Road, in Cass Township about 9 a.m. Friday.
State police at Frackville said Gerald Murphy, 54, was driving east on Route 901 when he went off the road, onto the right berm, traveled 96-feet and hit a plastic post.
The truck continued another 66-feet hit a tree and then went an additional 141-feet before it hit another tree and went down an embankment coming to rest partially on its passenger's side.
The truck, owned by J. Marlin Ernst and Son Inc., Orwigsburg, sustained severe damage and the contents of the trailer, reported to be coal or coal byproducts, did not spill onto the ground.
Murphy was checked at the scene by Minersville EMS but did not require medical treatment, police said.
Forestville firefighters assisted at the scene of the crash and area fire police were called back to the area a short time later to assist with traffic control as heavy duty wreckers removed both the tractor and trailer from the wooded area.
