Scott Thomas of Pottsville will be writing a blog from the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., over the next several days for republicanherald.com.
Thomas was elected in April as the Schuylkill County delegate to serve the 17th Congressional District at the convention, which will be Monday through Thursday.
Also scheduled to attend from Schuylkill County are Mary Beth Dougherty, who was also elected as a delegate, and Dan Daub, who was appointed as an alternate delegate.
In all, 2,286 delegates and 2,125 alternate delegates from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories are expected to gather to nominate their presidential candidate.
Thomas, a 2008 Pottsville Area graduate, was first elected to the Republican State Committee in 2008. He was elected to the Pottsville Area school board in 2009.
He is attending Kutztown University majoring in public administration and is a part-time legislative aide for state Rep. Mike Tobash.
Liz Bettinger, Pottsville, will be a delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 3 through 6.
