A Minersville man will be under house arrest for the next two months after being sentenced Aug. 16 in Schuylkill County Court on a charge of driving with a license that had been suspended for an alcohol-related reason.

Daniel J. Dutcavich, 55, must spend 60 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring under the terms of Judge Charles M. Miller's sentence.

Miller also sentenced Dutcavich to pay costs and a $500 fine.

Dutcavich pleaded guilty on June 26 to driving under suspension-DUI related, which Minersville police had charged him with committing on Jan. 12 in the borough.

Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, originally found Dutcavich guilty on March 21, but the defendant appealed that ruling on March 26.

In another Aug. 16 case, Judge John E. Domalakes sentenced Justin M. Meyers, 28, of York, to serve four to 12 months in prison after revoking his probation for a third time.

Meyers originally pleaded guilty on Nov. 21, 2008, to escape, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. At that time, Domalakes placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered him to pay costs and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account; Meyers still must pay those amounts under the terms of Thursday's sentence.

County sheriff's deputies had charged him with committing those crimes on May 8, 2008.

County prosecutors also have dropped charges against two defendants.

Joseph J. Jeronis, 33, of Danville, had been charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and public drunkenness. Pottsville police alleged he committed those crimes on Nov. 7, 2009, in the city.

Diane A. Washington, 24, of Philadelphia, had been charged with bad checks. Schuylkill Haven borough police had charged her with committing that crime on Nov. 15, 2006, in the borough.

In each case, President Judge William E. Baldwin signed an order on Tuesday allowing prosecutors to drop the charges and directing the defendant to pay the court costs.
