n Orwigsburg: A holiday craft fair is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 1 in the cafeteria at Blue Mountain High School, 1076 W. Market St., to benefit the high school band. Santa will be on hand at the fair. Food and refreshments for purchase and there will be a Chinese auction. Everyone is welcome.

n Saint Clair: St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church is sponsoring a trip to Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, Grantville, set for Oct. 8. n Schuylkill Haven: St. Ambrose School welcomed new faces to its faculty and staff with the start of the 2012-13 school year. Thomas Camise was hired as interim principal. Camise, Pottsville, has 38 years' experience in teaching and administrative positions, including stints with Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29, Mar Lin, and Schuylkill Haven Area School District. He will share some of his duties with Gene Lehigh, who has been named assistant to the principal. Lehigh is a veteran teacher of St. Ambrose and will also be teaching seventh- and eighth-grade math. St. Ambrose has also added Ann McGee as an eighth-grade teacher, Amber Yashinsky, Beth Webber and Pat Benkert in the preschool, Abigail Malloy in third grade, and Hilarie Condrack as the library/technology director. "The combination of the outstanding veteran staff and the enthusiastic newcomers makes for a winning team at St. Ambrose School," according to a press release. Anyone interested in seeing the school's new team in action is welcome to visit the school.
n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Rotary Club has an ongoing program of providing American flags in honor of relatives or friends who are serving or have served in the armed forces. The cost is $20 per flag and the banners will be displayed in the borough throughout the year for significant holidays. Those who buy flags will receive certificates from the Rotary acknowledging the memory or honor contribution. The Rotarians hope the project will eliminate weathering of the current flags. n Shenandoah: The first Cooper Classic Golf Tournament, to benefit the refurbishment of the J.W. Cooper Community Center, White and Lloyd streets, will be held Sept. 30 at Mountain Valley Golf Course, Barnesville. Former Philadelphia Eagies owner and Shenandoah native Jerry Wolman will be the tourney's special guest. Photos with Wolman will be available. The entry fee is $70 per golfer, which includes green fees and cart, awards dinner and deck party. There will be free beer and hot dogs for all golfers. The tournament is scramble-format with four hole-in-one prizes, closest-to-the-pin prize and longest drive prize. Trophies will go to the top three teams. Registration is 10 a.m. with tee off at 11 a.m., the awards dinner - barbecue ribs and chicken with sides - at 5 p.m. The deck party will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with music by Toolshed Jack. Non-golfers may attend the dinner and deck party for $25. The cost for the deck party only is $10. A designated driver will be available.
