The gas pumps at Sheetz on the Gordon Nagle Trail will be shut down starting Monday.
On Friday, Jerry Weger, director of core product sales at Sheetz, said the pumps will be taken down for maintenance through Nov. 9.
The pumps should be back in operation before that unless there are problems.
Weger said that the only changes taking place right now at the gas station will be the maintenance of the gas pumps.
Although not currently being addressed, another issue at the gas station has been the small entrance to Sheetz on the Gordon Nagle Trail that has been the scene of numerous accidents.
There was a meeting to discuss the topic May 24 at the Schuylkill Haven office of state Rep. Mike Tobash, R-125.
Pottsville Mayor John D.W. Reiley, Tobash, two representatives from the PennDOT permitting office, Pottsville police Chief Joseph H. Murton V and Pottsville police Capt. Steve Durkin attended.
Three signs exist along the trail that prohibit motorists from turning left between the hours of 7 and 9 a.m. and 3 and 6 p.m., but motorists still do so during those hours.
Sean Brown, PennDOT spokesman for District 5, Allentown, previously told The Republican-Herald that any changes to the entrance and exit has to be approved by Sheetz, while Monica Jones, Sheetz public relations manager, said that the real estate person for the site has to research the issue before a decision is made.
