Doctorate
John Chuma III, Frackville, was awarded his doctorate in clinical psychology from John F. Kennedy University, Pleasant Hill, Calif., on Aug. 8.
Dr. Chuma is a 1995 graduate of Marian High School. He graduated from Shippensburg University in 2000 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and English. He earned his master's degree in child and family psychology from National University, Sacramento, Calif., in 2005.
In 2009, he was awarded his state psychotherapist license from the California Board of Marriage and Family Therapists. He received a second master's degree in 2010 when he was awarded a master's degree in clinical psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
Starting in the spring of 2010, he began a two-year dissertation project researching homeless populations in Sacramento, Calif., and Central Pennsylvania. In April 2012, Chuma completed and successfully defended his doctorate dissertation titled, "The Psychological Experience of becoming Homeless."
Dr. Chuma is completing his post-doctorate residency at the Crossroads Clinic at the Lebanon Veterans Administration Hospital, Lebanon.
He is a son of John Chuma and the late Susan Chuma. He is married to the former Tanesha Cunningham, and they have two children, Kris and Elisha.
Certifications
Five students at the Pottsville campus of McCann School of Business & Technology successfully passed program specific certifications examinations.
Daniel Larose, Christine Lamp, Zachary Gilbert and Andrew Clancey successfully passed the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel Examination.
Tricia Zimmerman passed the Microsoft Office Specialist Word Examination.
