Frackville Rotary
Amanda Howard, daughter of Michael and Judy Howard, Frackville, was honored as Frackville Rotary Student of the Month for September at a recent meeting held at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant at Schuylkill Mall.
A senior at North Schuylkill Junior-Senior High School, Amanda is ranked eighth in her class and is a member of the National Honor Society. She was selected during her sophomore year to represent her school as an ambassador at the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership conference held at Millersville University. She is treasurer of the DARE Advisory Board, a member of the varsity football and basketball cheerleading squads, student council, Rotary Interact, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Teens Against Tobacco, Peer Mediators, Academic Team, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Schuylkill County and will participate in her fourth Powderpuff Classic in October.
Amanda is a certified lifeguard and has worked as a swim instructor for North Schuylkill and at the Frackville Community Pool. She is a member of Annunciation BVM Roman Catholic Church, Frackville, where she served as an altar server for more than eight years.
Amanda plans to attend college and pursue a career as an orthodontist.
