A Girardville man must spend at least three days in prison after being sentenced last Tuesday in Schuylkill County Court for driving under the influence in December 2010 in his hometown.

Michael A. Wilson, 36, has to serve 72 hours to six months in prison under the terms of Judge Charles M. Miller's sentence.

Miller also sentenced Wilson to pay costs, $525 in fines, $100 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund, $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and $60 restitution to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street. Miller made Wilson's sentence effective at 9 a.m. Jan. 20.

Wilson pleaded guilty Dec. 8, 2011, to DUI and careless driving, with prosecutors dropping charges of driving under suspension and seat belt violation. The defendant had been scheduled to undergo a nonjury trial before Miller on that date.

State police at Frackville had alleged Wilson was DUI on Dec. 29, 2010, in Girardville.
