Tamaqua man
to face charge
BARNESVILLE - A 32-year-old Tamaqua man will be cited by state police at Frackville after a crash on Ball Diamond Road in Ryan Township about 2:10 a.m. Monday.
Police said Matthew Martin, 5 Gamelands Drive, will have to answer to the charge in district court.
According to police, Martin was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Blazer when he lost control, went off onto the north shoulder of the road and struck a PPL utility pole with the right front bumper.

near Pine Grove
PINE GROVE - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a theft that occurred at 57 Suedberg Road in Pine Grove Township about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said David Schaeffer, Pine Grove, said someone pulled off onto the shoulder of the road where two tree stands offered for sale were chained to a wooden table.
Someone cut the chains using a bolt cutter and fled with the two tree stands.

Deer blamed
for I-81 crash
MAHANOY CITY - A deer is blamed for causing a crash on Interstate 81 at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday at mile marker 132.2 in Mahanoy Township.
State police at Frackville said Chelsea N. Raney, 22, of Leesburg, Va., was driving a 2009 Kia Sportage south on the interstate when a deer ran across the highway and into her path.
Raney hit her brakes but was unable to stop before hitting the deer, police said.
No airbags were deployed and both Raney and her passenger, Karen E. Moroski, 23, of Scranton, were wearing seatbelgs and were not injured, police said.
The Kia was towed from the scene and Raney will not be charged as a result of the crash, police said.
