n Barnesville: The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. group meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at Ryan Township Fire Company hall, Route 54. The group's annual Christmas party is set for noon Dec. 11. Eleanor Schmnerfeld is the president. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
n Orwigsburg: A dine-in is set for 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Schuylkill County Club to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes for children with grave illnesses. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from dinner and beverage sales will be donated to the foundation's Pottsville regional office. According to a Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce Member Memo, nonmembers of the country club are welcome, The Fat Cats will provide entertainment, there will be raffle items and a one-year social membership to the country club will be awarded. Another prize will be a premier Philadelphia 76ers package including two courtside seats, VIP Lexux Club admission, food and beverages. n Saint Clair: The Saint Clair Halloween Parade Committee recently released the winners of the parade and other Halloween contests as follows: Floats, first place, The Pirates, Port Carbon Cub Scouts 604; second, Angry Birds, the Zokuskie family; third, two winners, Happy Birthday PA 4-H sponsored by the Schuylkill County 4-H Program and Animals Gone Wild sponsored by The Butcher Shop, Minersville. House decorating contest, first, Norm Egan, 139 N. Mill St.; second, Jeff Brown, 124 N. Mill St.; third, Bill Smeltzer, 39 N. Second St. In its release, the committee thanked everyone who assisted, participated in and donated to the annual event. Members especially thanked the businesses and organizations that contributed, people who compassed the community for donations and the borough and police department for continued support. Donations help to defray the costs of the bands, members said in the release.
n Schuylkill Haven: The Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizens will hold their meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Senior Center, 340 Haven St. Following the business meeting, the members and guests will be entertained with music by "Dedra & Al." This will be the last opportunity to purchase a ticket for the annual Christmas dinner. Members with a current membership are eligible to attend the dinner. Refreshments and fellowship will follow. n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Rotary Club has an ongoing program of providing American flags in honor of relatives or friends who are serving or have served in the armed forces. The cost is $20 per flag and the banners will be displayed in the borough throughout the year for significant holidays. Those who buy flags will receive certificates from the Rotary acknowledging the memory or honor contribution. The Rotarians hope the project will eliminate weathering of the current flags.
