ORWIGSBURG - A Philadelphia man must appear in Schuylkill County Court after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday on three charges stemming from an alleged assault in September in Schuylkill Haven.
David Melton Jr., 21, of 1731 W. Colonial St., faces charges of simple assault, harassment and defiant trespass, all of which Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier bound over for court following the defendant's waiver.
Schuylkill Haven borough police alleged that Melton punched and kicked Tenee Pinckney at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 17 at her residence at 39 Center Ave., Apt. A, in the borough.
Police said Pinckney suffered injuries to her left leg, upper lip and nose, including a minor head injury and a deviated septum.
Pinckney said she and Melton, her ex-boyfriend, got into an argument and that he assaulted her, according to police. Pinckney also said Melton refused to leave her apartment until she called police.
Melton is free on $15,000 unsecured bail pending further court proceedings.

Amy B. Geiger, 19, of 59 Stanton St., Schuylkill Haven - driving under the influence, obstructed window, two counts of corruption of minors and four counts of stop sign violation; right to preliminary hearing waived, corruption of minors counts withdrawn, other charges bound over for court.
Kevin W. Kintzel, 24, of 10 Main St., Blandon - DUI, disregarding traffic lane, failure to drive at a safe speed and careless driving; right to preliminary hearing waived, charges bound over for court.
Christine Maurer, 51, of 638 N. Centre St., Pottsville - access device fraud, theft and receiving stolen property; right to preliminary hearing waived, charges bound over for court.
Janice E. Metz, 34, of 200 E. Main St. Apt. 8, Schuylkill Haven - possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance; right to preliminary hearing waived, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance charge withdrawn, other charges bound over for court.
