Woman struck in hit-and-run
SAINT CLAIR - A 75-year-old Saint Clair woman was injured Monday afternoon when she was hit by a vehicle in the borough.
Saint Clair police said the accident occurred in the 200 block of East Lawton Street about 5:30 p.m. at the entrance to Buck Horn Café parking lot.
The woman, identified as Ho Ching Lan of 113 S. Morris St., was taken by ambulance to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for treatment of serious injuries she suffered, including broken bones, police said.
Police said the woman was struck by what appears to be a light-colored General Motors SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Equinox, whose driver fled the scene.
The SUV was traveling east on East Lawton Street and turned into the parking lot of the Buck Horn Café.
Police said the driver then made a U-turn in the parking lot and began to exit, hitting the woman who was at the end of the sidewalk.
The driver then exited the parking lot and left the area traveling west on East Lawton Street, police said.
The driver, police said, is required to stop and check on the victim and also to report the incident to police immediately.
Police are asking that anyone with information on the identity of the driver who fled or whereabouts of the vehicle to call them at 570-427-2240. All information will remain confidential.

Vehicle vandalized in Shenandoah
SHENANDOAH - Michael Burns, 122 N. Bower St., Shenandoah, reported to borough police that someone drove up to his 2010 Ford Focus while it was parked in front of his home and scratched the front driver's side.
Burns reported the damage at noon Saturday, Dec. 10.

Man injured in high-speed crash
MINERSVILLE - A Hegins man was injured when the 2007 Volkswagen he was driving crashed in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81, at mile marker 113.8 in Foster Township, at 5:05 p.m. Sunday.
State police at Frackville said Eric Geist was driving south at a high rate of speed when he encountered another vehicle in his lane of travel. Geist swerved to avoid a collision, lost control and went off the road, causing his vehicle to roll over several times.
Geist was removed from his vehicle by Frackville firefighters and then taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment.
Police said Geist showed signs of being intoxicated and that the investigation will continue until blood alcohol test results are received.
Cash, candy bars taken in theft
WILLIAMSTOWN - A burglary, theft and criminal mischief incident that occurred at Zemco Tool and Dye, 113 S. West St., in this Dauphin County community between 3:15 and 11:30 p.m. Saturday is being investigated by state police at Lykens.
Police said someone smashed a glass rear door and entered the building, where they damaged a vending machine and soda machine and unsuccessfully tried to enter a second-floor door.
The person or persons then fled with $14 from a Boy Scout fundraiser envelope, about 13 candy bars and about $20 from the vending machines.

Police investigate slashed tires
GILBERTON - A criminal mischief incident that occurred at 6 Chapel Lane between 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 9:45 a.m. Sunday is being investigated by state police at Frackville.
Police said Jennifer M. Gates reported someone slashed two tires on her vehicle while it was parked in front of her home and fled the scene.

Rear van window smashed
SHENANDOAH - Borough police responded at 9 a.m. Dec. 10 to a call from Gerardo Tavares, 227 W. Coal St., Shenandoah, that his 1999 Mercury Villager minivan was damaged when someone smashed the rear window while it was parked at 133 W. Coal St.

Police probes 2 thefts
HAMBURG - State police at Hamburg are investigating two thefts that occurred at Loves Travel Center in Upper Bern Township, Berks County, on 9:10 a.m. Dec. 4 and 5:44 p.m. Dec. 5.
Police said someone used a TCH Fuel Card owned by JR Trucking and Rigging, Pottsville, to purchase diesel fuel valued at $1,708.
