Man injured

in Rt. 895 crash

ORWIGSBURG - An Orwigsburg man was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street after he apparently fell asleep behind the wheel and struck two utility poles and a tree on Route 895, about one mile east of Route 61 in West Brunswick Township, at 1:46 p.m. Saturday, police said.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Raymond Goelbert, 71, was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee east on Route 895 when he fell asleep and traveled off the roadway, striking two utility poles and a tree. The roadway was closed in both directions for about an hour due to low hanging wires, police said.

Police said Goelbert's vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Schuylkill Medical Center was not able to provide an update on Goelbert on Sunday evening. Assisting at the scene were Deer Lake/West Brunswick Fire Company No. 1 and Orwigsburg EMS and fire police, police said.

McADOO - State police at Frackville are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred between 6:30 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday on Route 309, just north of Lofty Road.

Police said Ashley Hix, Lansford, parked her black 2012 Mazda Speed 3 well off the road and the front left window was shattered.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 570-874-5300.

Tenn. man jailed

in DUI on I-81

DONALDSON - A Knoxville, Tenn., man was sent to Schuylkill County Prison after he was charged with harassment, driving under the influence of alcohol and other vehicle violations stemming from an incident at 5:28 p.m. Friday on Interstate 81 near mile marker 111 in Frailey Township, police said.

State police at Frackville said the interstate was covered with snow and a 21-year-old Reisterstown, Md., woman had pulled off to the side of the road. Police said Eulon Patrick, who was driving a pickup truck and parked behind her vehicle, had been following the woman for about 15 minutes and was staring and shouting at her through his window.

Police said Patrick appeared to be under the influence and refused to take a chemical test. The man was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, and was sent to the Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail, police said.

Woman's purse

PINE GROVE - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a purse that occurred between 10 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday in Pine Grove Township.

Police said someone went through the window of the home of Bonnie Lee Frayer, 71, of Pine Crest Village Drive, and stole the purse. Anyone with information about the incident can call police at 570-593-2000.

Seltzer woman

involved in crash

MINERSVILLE - A Seltzer woman escaped injury after she lost control of her vehicle on the snow-covered Valley Street in Cass Township, at 4:14 p.m. Friday, police said.

State police at Frackville said Henrietta Wentz, 63, was driving a blue 2007 Toyota Yaris south on Valley Road and lost control of her vehicle on the snow. The vehicle slid onto the southbound shoulder and struck an embankment.

Police said Wentz was wearing a seat belt and the airbags did not deploy, but the vehicle required towing.
