TAMAQUA - St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus has announced it will open a 7,600-square-foot medical center this spring at the site of the former Rite Aid Pharmacy at 137 Railroad St.
The Tamaqua Medical Center will offer outpatient orthopedic services, sports medicine and X-rays as well as outpatient laboratory services, according to a press release Friday from St. Luke's University Health Network.
"We are committed to serving the counties surrounding our hospital," William Moyer, president of St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus, Coaldale, said in the release. "That commitment is demonstrated through the strong professional talent we're bringing to the region, along with the investment we are making in new facilities and advanced technology."
The orthopedic specialist practice of Dr. Chandra Reddy, currently on the third floor at St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus, will also be moved to the new site. Reddy began accepting patients in Coaldale in April 2011 and the practice has outgrown its current location.
Dr. Maheep Vikram has also recently joined the practice, specializing in sports medicine.
Renovations have already started at the site and the goal is to have it up and running by April.
St. Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus is affiliated with the St. Luke's University Health Network and provides health care services to more than 11,000 people annually.
