Nuremberg woman

hurt in crash

TAMAQUA - A 34-year-old Nuremberg woman was taken to a hospital when she lost control of her vehicle at 4:13 Sunday in East Union Township.

State police at Frackville said the accident on Mountain Road occurred as Mary Singley was driving north in a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and lost control while rounding a slight left curve on the snow-covered road, causing her to slide to the right and hit a northbound guide rail.

Her vehicle slid across both lanes of the road and hit a stone embankment adjacent to the southbound shoulder, causing the Jeep to roll, police said.

It then righted itself and later rolled forward and struck the embankment again. It stopped facing the southbound shoulder facing northeast, police said.

Police said Singley, the only occupant of the Jeep, was wearing a seat belt. She was taken by Nuremburg Ambulance to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. A nursing supervisor said Thursday evening that Singley had been discharged.

Singley will be cited for driving too fast for road conditions.
