A McAdoo man is headed to a state prison cell after being sentenced Friday in Schuylkill County Court following revocation of his probation.

Michael J. Brodie, 27, must serve one to two years in a state correctional institution, Judge Charles M. Miller ruled.

Miller imposed the new sentence after Brodie admitted violating his probation by not paying his costs and fines, not completing his anger management class and drinking alcohol.

Brodie pleaded guilty on Nov. 16, 2011, to simple assault, terroristic threats and public drunkenness, with prosecutors dropping a second simple assault charge and charges of disorderly conduct and harassment. At that time, Miller sentenced Brodie to spend 18 months on probation and pay costs, a $25 fine and $100 in payments to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account.

McAdoo police filed both sets of charges against Brodie, alleging he committed the assault on May 23, 2011, and made the threats and was drunk on June 21, 2011.

Also on Friday, Miller sentenced Joseph J. Guzick, 23, of Port Carbon, to serve four to 12 months in prison and undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Miller handed down that sentence after revoking Guzick's probation for a second time.

Guzick originally pleaded guilty on Nov. 24, 2010, to simple assault. At that time, Miller sentenced him to spend 12 months on probation and pay costs, a $50 CJEA payment and $8,965.11 restitution.

Pottsville police had charged him with committing the assault on Dec. 17, 2009, in the city.

On Jan. 18, 2012, Miller revoked Guzick's probation for the first time.

In another Friday case, Miller revoke the parole of Robert D. Steffie Jr., 42, of Auburn, and ordered him returned to prison for a little more than a year.

Steffie, who admitted violating his parole by being arrested again, must stay in prison until Feb. 23, 2014, Miller ruled.

Steffie pleaded guilty on Sept. 26, 2012, to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, with prosecutors withdrawing charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy. At that time, Miller sentenced him to serve 188 days to 23 months in prison and pay costs and a $50 CJEA payment.

State police at Schuylkill Haven charged Steffie with using the vehicle on March 23, 2012.

Also in the county court, a Tamaqua man admitted Tuesday that he committed two crimes last June in the borough.

Anthony E. Pascoe, 26, pleaded guilty to resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. Prosecutors withdrew charges of possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.

Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin accepted Pascoe's plea and sentenced him, pursuant to a plea agreement between prosecutors and the defendant, to spend 23 months on probation and pay costs, $100 to the Substance Abuse Education Fund, a $50 CJEA payment and $176 restitution to the state police crime laboratory in Bethlehem.

Tamaqua police had charged Pascoe with committing his crimes on June 18, 2012.
