A Pottsville man was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle Wednesday evening and went down an embankment on Seltzer Road in Norwegian Township.
Brad McKeone was put in the back of an ambulance at 5:59 p.m. after emergency personnel hoisted him up the embankment.
A spokesman for Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest, Allentown, said McKeone was listed in critical condition Wednesday.
Trooper Todd Heintz said McKeone "lost control of the bike and went over the cable guard rail."
He went down the embankment. He was not wearing a helmet, Heintz said.
Heintz did not know if speed was a factor. A sign before the right curve says the posted speed limit is 35 mph.
"It's still under investigation," he said.
Bob McClintock, the fire chief for the Seltzer Fire Company, Norwegian Township, said he was the second person on the scene.
"He was conscious. Both of his arms were broke," McClintock said, adding the man had a bloody nose.
McClintock said he understood the victim would be flown to an area hospital.
A supervisor with the Schuylkill County Communications Center said a call reporting the crash was received at 5:19 p.m. A helicopter was dispatched, but he did not know any additional information, he said.
State police, Pottsville police, the Pottsville-Schuylkill Haven Area EMS and Yorkville Hose & Fire Company were on scene. Pottsville fire police were on the scene directing traffic.
