A Pottsville motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident Saturday in Washington Township has died.
David John Guzick, 24, died Tuesday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, according to his obituary.
Jeff Moran, health department spokesman for the Philadelphia medical examiner's office, confirmed Wednesday that Guzick had died.
A spokeswoman for the hospital would not release any information; however, Tuesday she said he was no longer in the hospital system.
Guzick was in critical condition at the hospital Saturday after he was flown from the scene to Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, then to Philadelphia.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said the 1:45 p.m. crash occurred as Danielle Bevilacqua, 20, of Pine Grove, was distracted while driving a 2009 Mazda 3 west on Route 443 and hit the back of a Chevrolet S-10 driven by Paul Swartz Jr., 53, of Schuylkill Haven, who was also driving west.
Swartz was slowing down to turn left onto Dad Burnhams Road, police said. As the Chevy was struck, it was pushed into Guzick's 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which he was driving east, police said. Guzick was not wearing a helmet.
PCO Jamie Surabian of the state police station at Schuylkill Haven said Wednesday that police didn't have any additional information on the crash. She could not say if charges will be filed against Bevilacqua.
