SHENANDOAH - A 23-year-old Barnesville man charged with having unlawful contact with a 13-year-old girl in Delano Township between April 14 and July 13, 2012, appeared for a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker.

Timothy W. Collins, 23 Forest Ave., was arrested by state police Trooper Edward Lizewski of the Frackville station and charged with one count each of unlawful contact with a minor, criminal attempt to commit statutory sexual assault and corruption of minors, all felony offenses.

Lizewski withdrew the criminal attempt to commit statutory sexual assault charge and Collins waived the remaining two offenses for Schuylkill County Court.

Lizewski charged Collins with being in contact with the girl on the computer, where he asked her to send him photographs of herself and asked her to perform sex acts.

Collins also arranged to meet the girl at a location in Shenandoah, Lizewski said.

When interviewed, the trooper said Collins admitted asking the girl for nude photographs and also for sex and that he knew she was under the age of 18 at the time.
