The Pottsville Fire Department responded to an electrical fire about 1 p.m. Tuesday at 11 N. 22nd St. in Pottsville.
Jimmy Flowers, who lives there with his son, wasn't home at the time of the fire.
City fire Chief Todd March said that the fire, which took about 30 minutes to get under control, started from a faulty wall receptacle in the baseboard in a front bedroom that had an electric heater plugged into it.
"There was a lot of smoke at first, but the guys got in right away," he said.
The fire burned into the floor and the ceiling downstairs, but was mostly contained to one corner of the bedroom near a side window.
While March said that it started to travel up to the third floor, it never reached that level of the house.
Although the fire was out, March said it would still be smoldering for a while.
