City police arrest
man over PFA
Pottsville police arrested a man for violating a Protection From Abuse order and trespassing after an incident at 2 Barefield in the city about 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Police said George Webber Jr., whose age and address were not available, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, on a charge of indirect criminal contempt and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $10,000 straight cash bail.
Police said charges of a second PFA violation and separate charges of criminal trespass will be filed against Webber for trespassing on property owned by Barefield Gardens LLC where the victim resides.
Police said that Webber's ex-girlfriend, Rachel Vilcheck, reported the man came to her home and began arguing with her, accusing her of being intimate with other men.
It was learned that the woman had a protection order against Webber but the man fled the scene before officers arrived.
Webber returned to the woman's home about 11 p.m. and began banging on the door but was taken into custody by police without incident.

The North Central Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce announced that Sobriety Checkpoints and Roving DUI Patrols will be conducted today through Monday on routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 1008, 443, 895, 125,25, 924 and 54.
Travelers are reminded to call 911 if they suspect a drunk driver or to call, toll-free, 888-UNDER21, to report underage drinking.

The North Central PA Regional DUI Enforcement Program reported 25 vehicles were contacted and 20 detained during a roving DUI patrol conducted Saturday by three officers from three departments.
There were no drivers tested for DUI and no arrests made for either DUI or underage drinking.
The officers did make 14 traffic arrests and issued 11 warning notices.
Haven woman
faces theft charge
FRIEDENSBURG - A Schuylkill Haven woman allegedly stole a pair of sneakers from a Wayne Township business.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jennifer McGovern, 41, stole a pair of Converse sneakers from the Curious Cat, 11660 Long Run Road, Wayne Township, at 11:56 a.m. Saturday and left her sneakers at the business.
Woman injured
in Route 645 crash
PINE GROVE - A Lebanon woman suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital after she lost control of her car because of weather conditions Monday.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Linda L. Arnold, 58, was driving north on Brookside Road, Route 645, at 7:20 a.m.
Arnold lost control on the ice/snow covered road and struck a drainage culvert, causing the 2006 Pontiac vibe to roll over, police said.
She was taken by Pine Grove EMS to Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, with minor injuries, police said.
She was wearing a seat belt, police said. She was not charged as a result of the crash.

into Freeze shop
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - A Hamburg man was not injured Monday morning when his vehicle crashed into the side of an ice cream shop.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Gregory J. McLaughlin, 62, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu south on Route 61 and drove through the jughandle onto Route 443.
McLaughlin struck the enbankment and crossed both directions of Route 61 before striking the Freeze ice cream shop, police said.
McLaughlin will be charged for failing to drive on the road, police said, adding the car was towed from the scene.
Tuscarora man's
identity stolen
TUSCARORA - The identity of a Schuylkill Township man was used for a frauduent credit card charge.
State police at Frackville said the identity of Robert Bashago, 72, of 509 Strawberry St., Tuscarora, Schuylkill Township, was used to open a credit card.
The thief attempted to use the card to make a purchase from the Home Shopping Network at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
Speeding blamed
for 1-car crash
JONESTOWN - Two people escaped injury when the 2006 Saturn Vue they were in crashed on County Line Road, just north of Dairy Lane in East Hanover Township, Lebanon County, at 9:12 p.m. Monday.
State police at Jonestown said Alexandra Brittain, Hummelstown, was driving south too fast for conditions when she lost control on the wet road while on a right curve.
The vehicle spun, crossed the northbound lane and went off the road and struck a metal cattle gate and fence, police said.
After hitting the fence, police said, Brittain pulled off onto the east side of the road. The woman and her passenger, Erika Hofford, whose age and address were not released, both escaped injury.
Brittain will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed as a result of the crash, police said.
Teenager charged
with harassment
BETHEL - A 13-year-old Lebanon girl was charged with harassment by state police at Jonestown after an incident at Northern Lebanon Middle School in Bethel Township, Lebanon County, at 8:25 a.m. March 20.
Police said the teen became involved in a verbal argument with a 13-year-old Jonestown boy, pushed him from behind into a metal locker and continued hitting him in the back with an open hand.
The girl will have to answer to the charge in a Lebanon County district court, police said.
