n Ashland: Ash pickup in the borough this week will be today due to the Good Friday observance.

n New Philadelphia: The Pottsville Football Mothers Boosters will sponsor a Chinese auction beginning at 1 p.m. April 7 in Holy Cross Hall, 37 Clay St. The fundraiser will benefit the Pottsville Area football team's Florida trip. There will be a shop-and-drop from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 6 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 7. There will be more than 200 prizes. Homemade food will be available. Everyone is welcome. n Orwigsburg: The Orwigsburg Free Public Library's fifth annual Casino Night is set for 7:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Schuylkill Country Club. According to an event flier, prizes will include a basket of wine, fine jewelry, golf passes to local facilities, gift certificates to local restaurants and other items. The public is welcome but people must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets - $40 per person in advance and $50 at the door - are available at the library, 214 E. Independence St., call 570-366-1638.

n Pine Grove: A breakfast buffet for the opening day of trout season will be held from 6 to 10 a.m. Saturday in the clubhouse at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. n Pine Grove: A community sunrise Easter service will be held at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at the point amphitheater in front of the clubhouse at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. The Easter devotional will include live music. It will be led by the pastor of Pine Grove Wesleyan Church. It is free and open to the public. n Pottsville: David J. Dutcavich, Schuylkill County prothonotary, released the following report for February: County remittance, $39,466.03; new civil actions, 178; new divorces filed, 46; divorces granted, 33; passports accepted, 175; state remittance, $6,002.99.

n Pottsville: The Pottsville Area School District's drug and alcohol coalition called Tide Task Force will give the public another opportunity prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. In conjunction with Pottsville police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, the task force will collect the unwanted medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27 near Martz Hall and have them properly disposed. The service is free and anonymous, according to a task force release.

n Shenandoah: Knights of Columbus Francis Cardinal Brennan Council 618 will sponsor bingo games April 7 and 21 in St. Stephen Roman Catholic Parish Hall, Main and Oak streets. Doors will open at noon and bingo will begin at 2 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome. For more information, phone 570-617-2000 or 570-590-1188. n Tamaqua: An open mic talent night is set for 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. All are welcome to get on stage and recite poetry, provide a comedy skit, sing, dance, play an instrument or do other entertainment. A console and baby grand piano are available for participants to use. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for registration until 7:30 p.m. Performers will start at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. Talent night is free and open to the public.
