KUTZTOWN - A 19-year-old Schuylkill Haven man suffered severe injuries when the 1994 Honda Civic he was a passenger in crashed on Noble Street in Maxatawny Township, Berks County, at 2:05 a.m. Friday.

State police at Hamburg said Samantha Rodden, 18, of Boyertown, was driving south when she over-compensated for a slight turn, causing her car to go out of control and spin clockwise. Pottsville police responded about 4:31 p.m. Friday because of a domestic dispute, police said.

They encountered a 37-year-old woman, and her 17-year-old son who told them of the incident, police said.

When the 17-year-old tried to stop him, the two wrestled and Wykle swung the hammer at the head of the juvenile. He then proceeded to throw a motorcycle part at the juvenile's head, police said.

He fled the scene but was arrested when found, police said.

Wykle was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, on two counts each of simple assault domestic violence and of recklessly endangering another person. He was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
