Still facing charges for allegedly burning down her apartment building in Shenandoah earlier this year, Chevonne M. Martinson pleaded guilty Wednesday in Schuylkill County Court in two unrelated cases.
Martinson, 28, of Shenandoah, pleaded guilty to two counts of retail theft and one of theft, with prosecutors withdrawing three counts of conspiracy and one each of receiving stolen property, defiant trespass and retail theft.
Judge James P. Goodman accepted the plea and, pursuant to an agreement between prosecutors and Martinson, sentenced her to time served to 12 months in prison and 23 months on probation.
Goodman also sentenced her to pay costs, $1,164.80 restitution to Wal-Mart and $4.31 restitution to Sorin Recycling, and to perform 10 hours community service.
Martinson said little during her hearing except to say that she knew the terms and effects of her plea and that she was entering it voluntarily.
In one case, Shenandoah police charged Martinson with stealing $4.31 worth of wire from Sorin Recycling Inc., 3 Herald Road, on May 31, 2012.
In the other case, Saint Clair police alleged that Martinson took $1,164.80 worth of merchandise from Wal-Mart Supercenter, 500 Terry Rich Blvd., on Oct. 14, 2012.
Still pending against Martinson are four counts of arson, three of criminal mischief, nine of recklessly endangering another person and one of risking a catastrophe.
Shenandoah police allege Martinson set the fire in the early morning hours of Jan. 19 at 432 E. Centre St. in the borough after an argument with her live-in boyfriend, Luis E. Ramos.
The blaze destroyed 432 W. Centre St. and damaged homes at 430, 434, 436 and 438 W. Centre St., police said.
Martinson remains in prison in lieu of $25,000 straight cash bail. Senior Judge D. Michael Stine on March 28 denied Martinson's request to lower her bail.
