Matthew J. Miske is headed to state prison for many years after admitting Wednesday in Schuylkill County Court that he stabbed two people, including his ex-girlfriend, in March 2012 in Auburn.

Miske, 22, of Schuylkill Haven, pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated assault, two of simple assault and one each of recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief, with prosecutors withdrawing two counts of attempted homicide, one of burglary and three of recklessly endangering another person.

Judge James P. Goodman determined Miske's plea to be knowing and voluntary, accepted it and, pursuant to an agreement between prosecutors and the defendant, sentenced him to spend 59 to 118 months in a state correctional institution, plus 10 additional years on probation.

Under the terms of Goodman's sentence, Miske also must pay costs, $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and $14,733.04 to the state Victims Compensation Assistance Program, have no contact with the victims and submit a DNA sample to law enforcement authorities.

"You're to have no contact with any of the victims," Goodman warned Miske.

Two of those victims suffered what police termed life-threatening injuries as the result of what Miske did.

State police at Schuylkill Haven alleged Miske entered 104 Market St., Apt. 3, Auburn, about 4:05 a.m. March 14, 2012, and used a box cutter-type knife to stab and slash Alissa N. Lord, Auburn, in the neck, and Alberto Rodriguez-Ramirez, Schuylkill Haven, in the chest.

Police said Miske, whom Lord identified as her ex-boyfriend, then cut himself in the throat. There was blood splatter throughout the apartment, police said.

Police also said there were two girls, ages 14 and 5, in the apartment.

Rodriguez-Ramirez and Lord were flown by helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest with life-threatening injuries, while Miske was flown by helicopter to Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, according to police.

Rodriguez-Ramirez suffered laceration wounds to his chest, a collapsed right lung and a defensive wound to his left hand, and Lord suffered large lacerations to her right hand and the left side of her neck, police said.

Miske, who still has scars on his neck, said little during Wednesday's hearing except to indicate he understood the terms and consequences of his plea and that he was entering it voluntarily.Defendant: Matthew J. Miske
