Schuylkill County prosecutors dropped two charges Tuesday against a Gordon man.
Steve Brozoska, 37, had been charged with false swearing and driving under suspension.
Mahanoy City police had charged him with committing those crimes on July 17, 2012, in the borough.
President Judge William E. Baldwin signed an order allowing prosecutors to withdraw the charges and directing Brozoska to pay the costs of the case.
Also on Tuesday, Brent A. Evans, 41, of Orwigsburg, returned to prison after having his probation revoked.
Judge Jacqueline L. Russell sentenced Evans to spend five months to 24 months less one day in prison, pay costs and $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, perform 20 hours community service and undergo mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations. Setting the maximum sentence at one day less than 24 months allows Evans to serve him time in the county prison instead of a state correctional institution.
"It's obvious that Mr. Evans has an extensive problem with alcohol," Russell said.
Evans admitted violating his probation by pleading guilty to two summary offenses, failing to report to his probation officer, not performing required community service and not making payments on his costs and fines.
"I can't blame anybody but myself," he said. "Every time I get in trouble, it's related to alcohol."
He said he had tried to get help for his drinking problem.
"I put myself in detox ... because I needed the help," he told Russell.
Evans originally pleaded guilty on Oct. 17, 2012, to resisting arrest and harassment. Russell accepted his plea, placed him on probation for 12 months and also sentenced him to pay costs, a $50 fine and a $50 CJEA payment and to perform 20 hours community service.
State police at Schuylkill Haven charged Evans with committing his crimes on Feb. 19, 2012.
