Tower City woman

faces charges

MUIR - A 32-year-old Tower City woman is facing charges of criminal mischief after an incident at 215 E. Wiconisco St. in Porter Township about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Kimberly Angeny will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont.

Police said Angeny went to the home of Dwayne Angeny, 38, and a verbal argument began. While there, police said Kimberly Angeny broke a light post near the front of the home.

Haven man faces

burn ban charge

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - A 58-year-old Schuylkill Haven man is facing charges for violating the open burning ban after an incident at 11:32 a.m. Tuesday at the Country Squire motel on Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Dom Mercuri was burning trash on open ground in violation of the county-wide burn ban that began April 5 and remains in effect until May 5.

A non-traffic citation against Mercuri was filed with Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier, Orwigsburg, police said.

Man to face

assault charges

MINERSVILLE - Minersville police charged a 39-year-old borough man in connection with a domestic incident at his home about 5 a.m. April 19.

Police said David J. Kupusnick, 539 School St., was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, four counts of simple assault, three counts of harassment and two counts of resisting arrest.

Police said officers were called to the home for a domestic assault and learned Kupusnick held Janine Rizzardi on a bed and choked her to the point of losing consciousness.

Kupusnick was highly intoxicated and taken to the Minersville police station and later in the day, when becoming sober, became enraged and began causing a disturbance inside a cell.

When Chief Michael Combs approached the cell and opened the door to calm the man down, but Kupusnick got confrontational and bumped Combs in the chest. Officers used a Taser and pepper spray to bring Kupusnick under control and secure him in handcuffs, police said.

Tamaqua man

faces theft charge

HOMETOWN - A 34-year-old Tamaqua man is facing charges of retail theft by Rush Township police after an incident at Wal-Mart on Tuesday,

Police said Hassan Nadio D. Monzon will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.

Police said the man was charged after he was caught stealing DVDs valued at $49.92.
