TAMAQUA - A 26-year-old Tamaqua man charged with assaulting two borough police officers on Jan. 7 waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer.
Kareem J. West Walker, 44, of West Broad Street was arrested by Tamaqua police Patrolman Karl Harig and charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count each of recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and criminal attempt to escape.
Harig withdrew one count of aggravated assault and Walker waived the remaining offenses to Schuylkill County Court.
Harig charged Walker with resisting arrest while being taken into custody on a warrant.
Harig said Walker grabbed him by the shirt and began to choke him causing cuts to his neck and then abrasions to his knees after he fell to the ground.
Walker then continued to resist and had to be subdued with the help of passing motorists but not until Patrolman Thomas Rodgers suffered a cut to his hand.
In a separate complaint, Walker waived charges of simple assault and harassment to Schuylkill County Court.

Robert C. Perrin, 46, of 235 1st St., Coaldale - dismissed: unlawful restraint. Held to court: simple assault and harassment.
Paula A. Blasko, 50, of 47 E. Phillips St., Coaldale - waived to court: DUI, DUI-high rate and no rear lights.
Shawn M. Murphy, 32, of 331 Broad St., Nesquehoning - held to court: retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Damon Cuff, 19, of 245 Cedar St., Tamaqua - waived to court: recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.
Nichole Horach, 22, of 261 W. Rowe St., Tamaqua - waived to court: DUI-controlled substance, DUI-rate and careless driving.
George R. Rogosky, 44, of 500 S. Main St., West Mansfield, OH - waived to court: DUI and careless driving.
Hubert W. Budd, 18, of 431 Glenwood Ave., Tamaqua - waived to court: possession of drug paraphernalia.
William M. Anthony, 39, of 225 S. Church St., Hazleton - waived to court: DUI and exceeding the speed limit.
