n Frackville: The Lenten season schedule for the Frackville Deanery of the Diocese of Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania, Orthodox Church in America, is as follows: 4 p.m. Sunday, Pan-Orthodox Vespers for the Sunday of Orthodoxy at St. Michael the Archangel Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church, Saint Clair; 4 p.m. March 11, Vespers at Ss. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Minersville; 4 p.m. March 18, Vespers at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, McAdoo. 4 p.m. March 25, Vespers at Christ the Saviour Orthodox Church, Harrisburg; 4 p.m. April 1, Vespers at St. Michael Orthodox Church, Mount Carmel; 5 p.m. April 8, Bridegroom Matins on Palm Sunday at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Monastery Church. Bishop Tikhon will be at most of the services. Holy Chrism for the Orthodox Church in America will be made and consecrated at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Monastery by His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, Archbishop of Washington, D.C., Metropolitan of All America and Canada, at the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Holy Thursday. Bishop Tikhon and the clergy of the Orthodox Church in America will concelebrate the service.

n Minersville: The second annual Project 113 Historical Rail Slide Show is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Goodwill Firehouse, Front and North streets. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $30 and proceeds will benefit restoration of the CNJ 113 locomotive. Ticket payment in advance was required. The presentation will include: 9 to 9:45 a.m., Dale Woodland, Reading F units history and modeling; 10 to 10:45 a.m., Robert Bahr, 1974 Western Maryland; 11 to 11:45 a.m., Rich Jahn, Penn Central RR, Philadelphia and Middle Divisions. Prior to lunch, Joe Fusco will present the latest on his video of the restoration progress on CNJ 113. The buffet-style lunch will include ham, city chicken, kielbasa, stuffed shells, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and dessert. Afternoon presentations will include: 1 to 1:45 p.m., R.S. Brouse, slides from the Ed Brouse collection; 2 to 2:45 p.m., Larry Eastwood, railfanning the northeast United States; 3 to 3:45 p.m., Craig Worley, the Kantner slide collection of Schuylkill County.

n Orwigsburg: The Berks Classical Children's Chorus will present a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The hour-long program will include performances by the three upper level ensembles in the chorus: Choristers (singers in grades 4-7); Chorale (grades 5-9), and MasterSingers (grades 8-12). About 90 singers will perform a variety of selections, from Bach to The Beatles. The chorus is celebrating its 20th anniversary season. Through a rigorous music curriculum, BCCC singers acquire an education and learn crucial life lessons - teamwork, time management, priority setting, self-presentation, communication and personal responsibility, according to the release. The chorus is an independent, nonprofit educational organization. Children are chosen annually during open, competitive auditions and are enrolled in the organization's progressive development program through age 18.

n Shenandoah: The Columbia Hose Company will hold a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to sellout Sunday at the firehouse, 742 W. Centre St. Patrons will be able to eat in the firehouse or take dinners out. Free local delivery will be available. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children. n Shenandoah: The Shenandoah Rotary Club will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. March 6 in St. Stephen Roman Catholic Parish Hall, Main and Oak streets. All presenting donors during March can enter to win a vacation giveaway that includes accommodations for eight days/seven nights and a $500 VISA gift card.
