Stolen truck

found in lot

HAMBURG - A 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was reported stolen last week has been recovered.

Tilden Township police said the vehicle owned by S&S Leasing Transport, Hamburg, was found by employees of the company Tuesday on the lot of the Westy Bar & Grill, 279, Hex Highway, Tilden Township.

No damage was done to the vehicle and no items were taken. The truck was stolen between 11 p.m. Feb. 24 and 6 a.m. Feb. 25, police said.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Tilden Township police at 610-562-9001.

Drivers racing

at PSU-Schuylkill

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - Campus police at Penn State Schuylkill stopped two vehicles racing on University Drive about 8 p.m. Wednesday, police said Thursday.

One of the drivers, suspected of DUI, was transported to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for a blood-alcohol test, police said.

The other driver fled on foot, police said. No charges have yet been filed and the investigation is continuing.

Shenandoah men

face charges

SHENANDOAH - Borough police responded at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday to a fight in the 300 block of South West Street.

Police said Robert Conrad, 19, of 22 W. Coal St., and Dennis Hopkins, 20, of 128 E. Penn St., both of Shenandoah, punched and kicked Brian Drumheller, 52, of 308 S. West St., knocking him to the ground and striking him while he was down. Conrad also struck and pushed Lisa Drumheller, 45, of the same address.

Brian Drumheller told police that he was walking to his home when Conrad approached him and began to fight. Drumheller required medical attention for his injuries.

Police said Hopkins fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Police said Conrad was charged with two counts of harassment and one count each of simple assault, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and underage drinking. Hopkins was charged with one count each of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Both men will have preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.

Harrisburg man

faces theft charges

SHENANDOAH - A Harrisburg man arrested for retail theft at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday was found to be wanted by police in a neighboring county.

Borough police saw Jeffrey Letcavage, 47, of 2910 Sycamore St., Harrisburg, sitting inside a green sport utility vehicle in the parking lot of Turkey Hill, 120 S. Main St. Letcavage and his vehicle matched the description of a retail theft suspect from Redner's Warehouse Markets, Gold Star Plaza, Shenandoah, where a Kuerig coffee maker valued at $100 was stolen Feb. 23. Police said Letcavage also matched the description of a theft suspect at Boyer's Food Market, 600 W. Centre St., Shenandoah, where about $200 worth of steak was stolen Monday.

Police said their investigation revealed that Letcavage had an active arrest warrant for fraud issued by the Swatara Township police in Dauphin County. Police said Letcavage was interviewed and admitted to both thefts in Shenandoah. He was released to the custody of the Swatara Township police to face charges in Dauphin County. Police said Letcavage will be brought back to Schuylkill County to face the retail theft charges.

Pizzas ordered

but not picked up

ORWIGSBURG - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of services from Russo's Pizza Den, 1353 Centre Turnpike, West Brunswick Township, at 6 p.m. Feb. 24.

Police said someone called the pizzeria and ordered five pizzas, provided a false name and telephone number and failed to pick up the order.

Russo's incurred a loss of $65 because of the individual not picking up the order.

Man charged

with assault

ALTAMONT - A West Mahanoy Township man was arrested by township police and charged with simple assault after an incident at 244 S. Wylam St. at 3:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police said Sheldon Buscavage, 244 S. Wylam St., was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, who set bail at 10 percent of $15,000.

Police said Buscavage assaulted Georgine Fogerty at their 244 S. Wylam St. home, causing the woman to suffer bruising.

Medication, cash

stolen at inn

ALTAMONT - West Mahanoy Township police are investigating a burglary at Room 31 at The Rodeway Inn in the Altamont section of the township between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said someone forced their way into a room where Douglas Drake was staying and stole prescription medication and about $70.

Anyone with information is asked to call police through the Schuylkill County Communications Center at 570-462-1992.

Truck not hurt

in I-81 crash

McADOO - A California man escaped injury when the 2000 Kenworth truck he was driving crashed on the on-ramp of Interstate 81 at Exit 138 in Kline Township at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday.

State police at Frackville said Minh Pham, Castro Valley, was traveling south on the ramp from Route 309 to I-81 when he lost control while trying to follow a left curve due to speed and snow on the roadway.

The truck went off the road, slid on the dirt for about 80 feet and turned over onto its passenger side before coming to a stop.

Police said Pham will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed and accidents involving overturned vehicles.
