TREMONT - A Tower City man already jailed on sexual assault charges involving a teenager on April 7 was charged Friday with additional sexual offenses stemming another incident that same day.
Christopher M. Romberger, 26, of 708 E. Wiconisco St., was charged Friday by state Trooper John Sleboda Jr. of the Schuylkill Haven station with one felony count each of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault, conduct relating to sexual offenders and corruption of minors as well as misdemeanor charges of indecent assault, indecent exposure and obscene and other sexual materials and performances.
Romberger was arraigned by video conference by Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont, who set bail at $10,000 straight cash.
Romberger was in Schuylkill County Prison on $10,000 straight cash bail for offenses that same day involving a different teenage girl, both in a wooded area behind North Bellas Street between 8 and 9 p.m.
Those charges, also filed by Sleboda, include contact relating to sex offenders and unlawful contact with a minor, both felony offenses and misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure, corruption of minors, indecent assault and open lewdness.
On Friday, Sleboda charged Romberger, a registered sex offender, with having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old Williamstown girl.
On Tuesday, Sleboda said he interviewed Romberger at the prison where he admitted to having sexual intercourse with the Williamstown girl.
A warrant was obtained from Pankake on Wednesday that resulted in the additional charges against Simon and his arraignment on Friday.
Sleboda said that the previous charges against Simon were filed April 12 and are the result of sexual conduct he had with a 14-year-old Tower City girl the same day.
Romberger was placed on the Megan's List of sexual offenders on Dec. 27, 2010, for a charge of unlawful contact or communication with a minor, according to the website. No other information on that charge was available.
Romberger will now have to appear for preliminary hearings on both sets of charges before Pankake on Thursday in her Tremont courtroom.
