Hamburg man
injured in crash
SUMMIT STATION - A 26-year-old Hamburg man suffered minor injuries when the 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser he was driving crashed on Route 183 in Wayne Township at 10:09 p.m. Thursday.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Timothy Zerr was driving south when he swerved to miss a deer that ran into the road.
The man's car struck the animal, causing him to lose control, cross into the northbound lane and then back into the southbound lane where it went off the road and struck an embankment, police said.
The vehicle then flipped end-over-end before barrel rolling two times and coming to a stop on its roof, police said.
Zerr was trapped inside his vehicle and removed by emergency personnel and then taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, by Pottsville-Schuylkill Haven EMS for evaluation, police said.
Strausstown and Summit Station firefighters assisted at the scene, police said.
Wanted man
taken into custody
HOMETOWN - Rush Township police took a 34-year-old man into custody on outstanding warrants on Thursday.
Police said they conducted a traffic stop for violations on Claremont Avenue and found Duane Hilliard wanted on outstanding warrants from both state police at Hazleton and the Luzerne County Sheriff's Office.
2 arrested
for harassment
SHEPPTON - Two people were arrested by state police at Frackville and charged with harassment after an incident at 119 W. Pine St. in this East Union Township village about 7:20 p.m. Monday.
Police said Carl R. Hayslette, 38, of Sheppton, and Shannon M. Katona, 29, of Hazleton, will have to answer to the charge against them before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.
