A 32-year-old Ashland man charged with fraudulently obtaining more than $2,500 in assistance benefits waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville.
Raymond Hillibush, 708 Centre St., was arrested by Amy Austra Gerneth of the state Office of the Inspector General and charged with fraudulently obtaining Food Stamps or assistance. By waiving his right to a hearing, Hillibush will now have to answer to the charge in Schuylkill County Court.
Gerneth said Hillibush received $1,368 in Food Stamps and $1,280.20 in cash benefits through the Schuylkill County Assistance Office beginning May 8, 2011. During the time, Hillibush collected the total of $2,636.20 he failed to report wages that were paid to him through Workforce Resources as required by law.

Robert J. Kline Jr., 26, of 309 W. Market St., Apt. 2, Pottsville - waived for court: possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Zachary G. Zerby, 18, of 204 E. Broad St., Tamaqua - waived for court: possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
