Beauty supplier moving to former Hollywood Video

MAR LIN - Beauty supply company CosmoProf is moving into part of the former Hollywood Video Store in Norwegian Township at Pottsville Park Plaza.

CosmoProf will occupy 2,912 square feet of the 7,488-square-foot building. The remaining area of the building is reserved for a future tenant. Weis Markets owns the location.

CosmoProf is part of Beauty Systems Group, which is owned by Sally Beauty Holdings Inc., according to their website, sallybeautyholdings.com. Cosmo Prof has a store at Empire Education Group's corporate office, along Route 61 near the Fairlane Village Mall, East Norwegian Township, where it sells beauty supplies.

It will move its operations out of the site, said Angela Watson, director of public and media relations for Empire Education Group.

The lease, which expires May 31, has been extended to Aug. 31, she said.

A beauty supply store has been at the site for more than 20 years, Watson said.

Before CosmoProf bought it, the store was owned by Schoeneman Beauty Supply, she said.

Jan Roberts, media relations contact for Sally Beauty Holdings Inc., did not have information about the location.

Dennis Curtin, spokesman for Weis Markets, declined to comment Wednesday.

Brad Petchulis, zoning officer for Norwegian Township, issued a store remodel permit May 1 for the site.

Township Supervisor Bob Kirwan said last week the site has been vacant for about two years when the Hollywood Video went out of business.

On Tuesday, workers were installing duct work and drywall in the store.

Frank Crampton, superintendent for the project with H&H Construction Services, LLC, Wyomissing, said work started about May 1 and will take "about 90 days."

The construction plans include a classroom, office and bathroom.

A dividing wall was installed Friday, separating the Cosmo side from the space to be rented out later. Work on that 4,576-square-foot side will include scraping the concrete floor, installing drop-ceiling tiles where needed and any drywall work, Crampton said.

This is the first time H&H Construction has done work at the plaza, he said.

Carolyn Corporon, vice president of marketing, Beauty Systems Group, could not be reached for comment.
