Man jailed after theft, car chase
HOMETOWN - A 33-year-old Freeland man was jailed Sunday after being arrested in connection with an incident at Wal-Mart at 10:08 a.m.
Police said Richard M. Bonney Jr. was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pancake, Tremont, on charges of retail theft, receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting to elude police and various traffic offenses.
He was then committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $25,000 bail, police said, adding that the man was out on bail at the time for previous retail thefts in the township as well as in other counties, police said.
Police said they were called to the store for a retail theft and tried to stop a vehicle driven by Bonney but the man fled north on Route 309.
The man entered Plant Road in Kline Township and drove onto a silt road where he lost officers who were following him. Police said that with the assistance of state police and officers from McAdoo and Ryan Township, the man was taken into custody a short time later.
Saint Clair man faces DUI charges
HOMETOWN - A 29-year-old Saint Clair man is facing charges by Rush Township police after a vehicle stop on State Road at 9:27 p.m. Thursday.
Police said that Keith Lash II was stopped for a traffic violation and is facing charges of DUI-controlled substance and traffic related offenses.
Police said Lash was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for a blood test and that charges will be filed with Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
2 injured in DUI-caused crash
LYKENS - Two people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 454 S. Second St. in this Dauphin County community about 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
State police at Lykens said Bryan S. Morgan, 33, of Lykens, was driving a 2011 Nissan Juke west on South Second Street when he fell asleep and struck a parked 2004 Chrysler Sebring.
Morgan was found to be under the influence, police said. Both he and his passenger, Allison Morgan, 33, also of Lykens, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Harrisburg Hospital for treatment.
Lykens firefighters assisted at the scene and police said Bryan Morgan will be cited as a result of the crash.
Tires slashed in Port Clinton
PORT CLINTON - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred on Blue Mountain Road, near Route 61, about 8 p.m. Monday.
Police said someone slashed all four tires on vehicles owned by Kevin J. Bucha, Emmaus, and Daisy P. Cortez, Reading, and fled the scene.
Damage to the vehicles was listed at $1,250, police said.

Teen leads police on car chase
WILLIAMSTOWN - A 17-year-old Williamstown boy is facing charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude police and various traffic offenses after an incident on Route 209, near the Schuylkill County line in Williams Township, Dauphin County, about 1:15 a.m. Monday.
Police said the charges against the boy will be filed with Dauphin County juvenile authorities.
The teen, police said, was driving a 1999 Ford Contour owned by Marcia K. Evans, Williamstown, north on Route 209 when they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.
The boy refused to stop and drove into Porter Township, Schuylkill County, traveled through Tower City and then crashed into concrete steps on the property of Edward R. Durkin.
The boy was not injured and police said the pursuit lasted 1.7 miles and reached speeds of 60 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Police said the boy went through seven stop signs and did not have a valid driver's license.
7 people unhurt in 2-car crash
FRACKVILLE - Seven people escaped injury when two vehicles collided in the southbound lanes of Route 61, just south of the Schuylkill Mall exit ramp in Blythe Township, at 2:38 p.m. Monday.
State police at Frackville said Debra A. Depew, 56, of Waverly, was driving a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan south when she realized she made a wrong turn and wanted to go in a different direction. The woman pulled onto the berm and then tried to make an illegal U-turn to go north in the southbound lane and drove directly into the path of a southbound 2009 Ford F-150 driven by Ropy F. Manbeck, 41, of Frackville.
Manbeck, along with Depew and her passengers, Amy Allen, 35, of Milin, four children ages 2, 5, 8 and 10, all escaped injury, police said, adding that Depew will be cited for careless driving and disobedience to traffic control devices as a result of the crash.
Man jailed after assaulting wife
GIRARDVILLE - A 26-year-old Girardville man was committed to Schuylkill County Prison after being arrested and charged with assaulting his wife at their 249 W. Preston Ave. home at 9 p.m. Monday.
State police at Frackville said James Rooney was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont, on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was then committed to prison unable to post 10 percent of $20,000 bail.
Police said Rooney's wife reported that the man subjected her to physical contact and that during the course of their altercation, a gun was involved.
The woman did not require medical treatment and police said Girardville police were not on duty at the time of the incident.
Tools taken from unlocked trailer
AUBURN - A theft from a vehicle that occurred at 2100 W. Market St. in West Brunswick Township between 11:21 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. Monday is being investigated by state police at Schuylkill Haven.
Police said someone entered an unlocked trailer owned by Todd Cloak and Evergreen Landscaping of Reading and stole a Stihl FS90R weed wacker, a Stihl MS290 chain saw and an Echo blower, all valued at $1,100.

Man free on bail after incident
TAMAQUA - A 51-year-old is free on bail after being arrested by Tamaqua police on Monday in connection with a missing juvenile incident.
Police said Robert Gray, 137 Pine St., Apt. 4, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, on a felony warrant charging him with harboring a missing juvenile. Gray was released on $50,000 unsecured bail pending a preliminary hearing.
Police said they were looking for a 15-year-old boy who was missing from July 9 to 15 but later found by two borough officers.
Pine Grove man charged in incident
PINE GROVE - A 41-year-old Pine Grove resident was arrested by state police at Schuylkill Haven and charged with harassment after an incident at 18 Cardinal Road in Pine Grove Township at 6:50 p.m. Monday.
Police said Erin B. Larson will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge Carol A. Pankake, Tremont.
Police said a verbal argument between Larson and Paul B. Schearer, 38, also of Pine Grove, turned physical, with Larson pushing Schearer in the chest and then poking him in the eye with a cigarette.
Schearer showed no visible signs of injury, police said.
Man charged in theft of card
SHENANDOAH - A 21-year-old borough man was arrested by Shenandoah police last week and charged in connection with incidents that occurred between July 1 and 20.
Police said Dennis Hopkins, 128 E. Penn St., was charged with two counts of access device issued to another person and one count each of theft of property lost, misplaced or delivered by mistake and receiving stolen property.
Police said Hopkins obtained a woman's bank card and used it without authorization to put $35.01 in gasoline into a vehicle at the Turkey Hill Minit Mart store and then to buy cigarettes totaling $188.35 at Boyer's IGA, both in the borough.
Both purchases were made without permission from the woman who owned the card, police said.
Man charged with exposing self
SAINT CLAIR - A 22-year-old West Hazleton man was jailed July 21 after being arrested by Saint Clair police and charged with exposing himself inside Wal-Mart.
Police said John J. Pete III, 347 Winters Ave., was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, on four counts of indecent exposure and committed to Schuylkill County Prison unable to post 10 percent of $15,000 bail.
Police said they were called to the store about 3:35 p.m. for a report of a man exposing himself and learned that the person, later identified as Pete, was in four different locations, exposed and touching himself.
When identified and questions, police said Pete denied exposing himself but admitted pleasuring himself inside his shorts.
Police said that after Pete was taken into custody, he admitted exposing himself several times.
The man said he could not control himself and that "something comes over him," police said.
Unlocked SUV stolen from man
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating the theft of a vehicle that occurred between 4 and 6:30 a.m. July 24 at 84 Keystoker Lane in North Manheim Township.
Police said Edward Moore, Leesburg, Va., reported someone stole his unlocked 1996 Jeep Cherokee and fled the scene.
The SUV is red and has a Virginia license plate of JUF-7863.

Man's medication taken from desk
HAMBURG - State police at Hamburg are investigating a theft that occurred at Wolfe Dye and Bleach Works, 25 Ridge Road in Perry Township, Berks County, between 8 a.m. July 17 and 6:30 a.m. July 18.
Police said Jeffrey L. Hawkins, Hamburg, reported someone took prescription medication that he had stored inside his desk at the business.
